Public use only
These terms govern the public website. The public is not charged to read Lawryse content, use the directory, participate in public features or submit a LARIA enquiry.
1. Acceptance and operator details
lawryse.com is operated by Lawryse (Pty) Limited, Registration Number 2026/277972/07, at 36 Faure Marine Drive, Gordon’s Bay, Cape Town. By accessing or using the website, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the website.
2. Relationship to other terms
Paid member Dashboard use is governed by the Dashboard Membership Terms and Conditions. A public LARIA enquiry is governed by the LARIA Enquiry Terms. Advertising, Guest Articles, referrals and Research Contributor work have separate terms for the relevant participants.
3. No fee to the public
Lawryse does not charge members of the public to access public website content or submit a LARIA enquiry. Any professional fees agreed between an enquirer and an independent attorney or firm are separate from Lawryse and are not collected by Lawryse through the public website.
4. Not legal advice
Website content is general legal information and public education. It is not legal advice and does not replace advice from an appropriately qualified legal practitioner about specific circumstances. Lawryse is not a law firm and does not act as an attorney, intermediary in a professional mandate or representative of a listed firm.
5. Attorney directory and public profiles
Directory and profile information is supplied or approved by the listed member firm. A listing is not a Lawryse recommendation, endorsement or guarantee of competence, availability, fees or outcome. Users should make their own enquiries before instructing a legal practitioner.
6. LARIA
LARIA is a free enquiry-routing facility. It does not provide legal advice, decide the merits of a matter or create an attorney-client relationship. Enquiries are routed among eligible opted-in firms through neutral rotation without membership-tier preference. The LARIA Enquiry Terms apply before submission.
7. Lawryse content and intellectual property
Unless stated otherwise, the website, Lawryse branding, platform design, compilations, graphics and editorial material belong to Lawryse or its licensors. Articles and contributions may belong to Lawryse or the identified rights holder.
You may read content, share a normal link and quote a reasonable extract for non-commercial purposes with accurate attribution. You may not republish, scrape, reproduce at scale, remove attribution, train a commercial dataset on protected content, sell or commercially exploit website content without written permission.
8. Content submitted by public users
Where the website permits a question, reply, poll response, comment or other submission, you remain responsible for what you submit. Do not submit unlawful, threatening, defamatory, deceptive, infringing or unnecessarily identifying information about another person.
Lawryse may moderate, anonymise, edit for presentation, decline or remove public submissions for safety, legality, quality, privacy, professional ethics or platform integrity. Submission does not guarantee publication or a response.
9. Acceptable use and security
- Do not attempt unauthorised access, introduce malicious code, overwhelm the website or bypass security controls.
- Do not harvest directory details, personal information or content for spam, resale or profiling.
- Do not impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity, authority or circumstances.
- Do not use the website to harass, exploit or endanger a child or vulnerable person.
10. Cookies and privacy
The website uses necessary first-party cookies and similar technology to operate public functions, maintain security and remember limited choices such as a poll response. The Privacy Policy explains the information collected, the purposes, sharing, retention and user rights. Non-essential analytics will be introduced only with suitable notice and choice.
11. Third-party links and services
The website may link to member firm websites, public authorities and other third parties. Lawryse does not control or accept responsibility for their content, availability, security, privacy practices or services. A link does not imply endorsement.
12. Website availability and changes
Lawryse may maintain, improve, suspend or discontinue website content or functions. It does not guarantee uninterrupted availability, permanent publication, error-free content or compatibility with every device.
13. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Lawryse is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of, inability to use or reliance on the website, a directory listing, third-party link or general content. Nothing excludes a right or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
14. Changes, governing law and contact
Lawryse may update these terms from the effective date stated in the revised version. These terms are governed by South African law and subject to the jurisdiction of competent South African courts. Public and non-member enquiries about these terms may be sent to enquiries@lawryse.com.
